Early spring I went on a 4-day kayaking trip down the Green River through Labyrinth Canyon in Southern Utah. This is the first of a series of paintings I’ve done inspired by this trip. These are some of my first paintings exploring color theory and just trying to figure it all out. By the way, if you ever get a chance to go… DO IT!
All the colors in the canyon… frozen in time… slowly succumbing to gravity and erosion… eventually becoming the silt of the river and onto a new journey in time and space.
The colors in this series originate from Labyrinth Canyon’s colorful rocks, sand, and vegetation.
